“Because they’re mated-” he sucks in a startled breath as his brain catches up. He stares at Yeonjun with wide stricken eyes, feeling his heart literally crack inside his chest. “You’re... you have a mate.”

“You’re insane,” Yeonjun concludes.
“It’s not—“
“No, you’re insane,” Yeonjun says. “Because no one sane rolls up to the house of the guy extorting him and says ‘I didn’t know where else to go.’”
(Soobin is just another cog in Yeonjun's high school extortion empire, until one day he's not.)

The infection can be removed through surgery, but the feelings disappear along with the petals. It can be cured without side effects only when the feelings are returned.
