Summary
"Man turns his back on his family, he ain't no friend of mine," Steve's dad sings in the kitchen, Bruce Springsteen blasting from the record player. He always listens to records as loud as he can, and even though it bursts Steve's eardrums and makes mom disappear upstairs, Steve savors these moments. His dad winks and shimmies his shoulders, and Steve scrubs dishes as he watches his dad come alive to the music, until eventually, the tap water clicks off and Steve joins his dad, bouncing on his toes and swinging until he's numb.
Looking at this picture, you'd never know that ten years ago his dad almost killed him with a golf club.

Summary
Steve Harrington is totally and completely fine with being lumped into the category of “dumb jock.” He is also completely and totally fine with losing what little shred remains of his previous highschool popularity for hanging around with middle schoolers. In fact, this all makes it much easier for Steve to do what he does best. Hide. Now, people don’t question the bruises or that cold look in his eyes. Or at least that’s what Steve thought. Until some unexpected people worm their way into his heart. And maybe it’s just in time.
