    Summary

    Geralt had known Jaskier studied at Oxenfurt University, but he had thought of it as a sort of formal music education. It was becoming abundantly clear that while he had indeed studied music and composition, he also knew a lot more than Geralt had ever learned. And it was impressive. And humbling, too.

    Summary

    At the fourth stumble of the morning, Geralt’s patience breaks. Fine, the little fool is too stubborn to see he should leave and get it over with. Geralt will do the hard work for him, will simply move so fast that the bard has no choice but to end this farce already. He shifts his posture, squeezing Roach gently with his legs to urge her on faster-

    -and nearly goes flying purely out of surprise when she gives him a warning buck, a single crow hop before she settles again.

    There's absolutely nothing about this thing with Jack that's anything short of holy. Dave could live a hundred years and never commit a sin less sinful.

    Summary

    "Thrown out already?" Geralt asks, and sees the bard shaking his head from the corner of his eye.

    "Hardly! But a wise bard knows when to leave the audience wanting more."

    "I've never met one."

    "One what?"

    "A wise bard," he says, and glances over to see the bard's mouth flapping indignantly.

    "I -- am going to let that go, because you're right, where are my manners." He ducks in front of Geralt as they step onto solid ground, forcing him to halt, and gives him a bow, no less graceful for being quickly executed. "Jaskier, troubadour, poet -- and barker -- at your service."

    Summary

    5 times Geralt noticed something about Jaskier without being told, and 1 time Jaskier noticed something about Geralt without being told.

    //

    Jaskier gasps and sputters, utterly taken aback and hardly knowing which part of Geralt’s speech to address first. “A tart? A backwater tart, no less! Backwater tarts wish they had half my charm and sexual prowess! And you’ve, you’ve got some nerve, Geralt, trying to, to take advantage of my nobility — um, alleged nobility, that is — right after insulting my virtue and slandering me. Imagine the outrage I’d feel if I were actually noble—”

    Geralt tosses a doublet unceremoniously at Jaskier, who squawks and scrambles to catch it before it can fall to the floor. Geralt stills, then, and turns to face Jaskier with a pinched expression. “Doesn’t matter to me if you’re noble or not,” he says in a low tone. “You’re still Jaskier. Still annoying; still unshakable.”

    Jaskier looks down at the doublet in his hands to hide the way his cheeks burn as relief trickles down his spine. “Oh, well, as long as I’m still annoying,” he says.
