Words cannot describe how much I adore and love this fic, but I will try
This is the first longer hollow knight fic I've read, and by god is it the best one I've read!! From the very premise, to the characterisation, to the world building!! The whole concept of ghost losing their body and getting sick of existing as a higher god, and employing (and trusting) quirrel for help with it is so good!! He was the best choice considering their thoughts and hornet's new responsibilities.. and again, Trust with such a quest..
But it's so so fun joining them both on their adventure and sharing many laughs and lighthearted moments with them before the reality of it all came crushing down. I still fondly think of the moment quirrel surrendered at the hotel/diner place, the image in my mind was so hilarious! (and still is!)
And even afterwards when it got Serious with getting arrested, I LOVE the descriptions and portrayal of quirrel's misery of void related illness- and especially the effects ghost's power has on his body, it's just so so fun and interesting to see. The moment when he gets discovered in the archives with ogrim and hollow onwards is most definitely my favourite parts, I can't help but get all excited seeing the tension and how they all handle it!
Speaking of, I absolutely LOVE each and every one of the cast's voices for this fic! I love quirrel, he's so good and I do not blame his feelings on the matter with his situation- and even still he's so understanding and doing his best to not hurt anyone and make sense of what's going on- still though, he is only bug (human) and has his limits with things. That is to say he's a lovely character and his relationship with ghost and how they both interact is so fun!! ^o^
HOLLOW KNIGHT!! I LOVE YOUR HOLLOW KNIGHT WITH MY WHOLE HEART!!🥺 from the very first mention of them when quirrel was arrested, I lost my mind!! I was so so excited, it was hard to keep reading on bc I just kept re-reading "The Hollow Knight" over and over again!
Every mention of them, every little detail about them I love.. how their movements are normally mechanical, to them being ogrim's apprentice!! That's such a brilliant thought for them, and I love how caring and thoughtful ogrim is to teaching and showing them the life they never got to have (teaching them all the ways to hug!!) and so then seeing them blossom and slowly grow into their own being after centuries of being a sacrifice and the king's solution... it's just so nice to see them grow and heal from that
AND HOW CARING THEY ARE!! Remembering how caring and thoughtful they are throughout the fic makes me so soft and emotional... from realising it's ghost from the void goop and trying to communicate that to hornet on such short notice, to keeping quirrel company and hugging him when he got overwhelmed (absolutely love that whole moment btw, wish I could get a hollow hug too ;w;) to going shopping and questioning each shopkeep to find the best products they could!!
ALSO LOVE THE HOLLOW POV, I LOVE IT!! I was big eyes losing my mind again at seeing such a thing! I especially love their preference for carrying bugs as opposed to following them, super appreciate the attention to detail with keeping the games sprites in mind for this story too- bc YEAH they're freaking tall! So I 100% understand not wanting to inch along with shorter bugs..
I could keep talking about hollow knight all day, but I think you get the idea.. I just love how you characterised them so much!!
I love hornet and ogrim too btw, didn't mean to forget them! I do really like how they both interact and talk to each other about these matters, to get another's opinion on things- especially ogrim's!- is invaluable as a new ruler for an equally new recovering kingdom. I can't fully blame her for not telling hollow and ogrim about what happened in deepnest, it was bad to keep it secret yes.. but I understand her reasoning and thought process behind it even more.
I really enjoy her characterisation though and how, while yes she was very brash and gungho to kill quirrel, considering her upbringing + the panic of a new infection I understand why she did it! And it's nice to see her grow from that esp with hearing ogrim's thoughts on it, but it is fun that she still threatened him with her needle afterwards though, he doesn't need to know she wasn't gonna hurt him again
ALSO I really enjoy the little moments with other bugs while all this was going down, it's a nice little breather (and tease hehee) from all the panic and Seriousness going on with the main cast. Though at the same time they are quite horrifying to slowly read through, like a car crash in slow motion, lemm should've never drunk that murky water.. but it is a really nice insight on the void front and seeing how it infects and gets into bugs brains like that

Any stories after these first 4 are just me playing more with the world; these OCs hold a special place in my heart and I like putting them in situations :)
