Summary
Tommy was fairly certain bedrock was unbreakable, and even if it wasn't, there definitely wouldn't be a vast, unending void underneath that is actually a portal to a perfect world.
Grian was fairly certain things were only supposed to go in the Boatem Hole, not come out, and even if something did, it would be diamonds or a reward for their sacrifices or something that wasn't a random teenage boy.
To be fair, neither of them had put too much thought into it before. Maybe that excuses the reaction they had when their expectations were exceeded.

It took a part of my soul gently in it's hands, and for a second it hurt as it was gently torn out. The way you tear a drawing out of a sketchbook. Then it cast a spell, and placed it back in the way you savour the last piece of a puzzle. When Thomas felt whole, so did i. A warmth flew through my chest, and my heart swelled with an emotion i didn't think existed, nor do i think it has a name. Sometimes when i read, the same cavity in my chest feels empty and barren. This made me feel like that place in my chest grew flowers and made me alive. It's such a beautiful story, so well crafted like handmade artistry.
