AU. In the world the people (only the magical one, muggles don't) are devided into two groups: Dominants and Submissives. Every Dominant is linked to their Submissive and they have a bond between them even before they would meet. Until they meet, they only feel each other, and they can provide only emotional support.
Dominant Severus Snape lives only for revenge because several years ago Lord Voldemort cut his bond to his Submissive. It was very painful experience, and he still feels pain and half emptiness in his soul. And then his old friend, Headmaster Albus Dumbledore calls him back to England for a teacher position in Hogwarts.
Submissive Harry Potter grew up with pain in his chest and a hole in his soul. He almost gives up the hope to finally find his Dominant when a new teacher comes to Hogwarts when he starts his last, seventh year in the school.
