Their ships - curved and elegant and shark-like - appeared over colony after colony in their dozens and scores and hundreds. Always, their message was the same.

Many worlds joined. Churches, synagogues, mosques, and temples all burned; holy books and commentaries went up in the same infernos. Believers that held onto their faith burned alongside them; and alien icons were erected over their ashes, the survivors made to worship gods they didn’t know in tongues they didn’t understand. But they lived. After a fashion.
Many worlds fought.
Reach was among those worlds.
Many believers chose their faith and death over living what they knew to be a lie.
