Summary

John wasn't sure why it was so funny that they had run out of options, weren't able to refuse no matter what. But as the being chuckled he grit his teeth, hoping that they weren't going to end up as some kind of entity-nosh because this deal was a 'necessity'.
"I cannot fathom any use I would have of you, mortals. Tell me, what have your minds conjured up? What can you possibly bring forth to offer me?"
Meanwhile, at the same place, same time:
Like, Danny would do it as a freebie, especially for a group risking their lives as heroes on the regular. And he did feel a bit guilty for asking for something in return for him sorting out a problem he had sort-of kinda started a bit, but… "We do need that. But isn't not exactly like I need you guys for anything right now. Did you… have anything prepared? If you've got an idea, just throw it out there."

The truth of the matter is, Kaveh has no idea how to read Alhaitham. He prides himself on being an expert at understanding people, his empathetic heart lending him the capacity to relate deeply with those around him (oftentimes to his detriment). But with Alhaitham, there is nothing for him to read; no clues from his cool expression for him to grasp. The man appears stoic all the time even during their petty bickering.
Honestly, when was the last time Kaveh has seen the man do anything except smirk or frown? Does Alhaitham feel happiness? Has he ever seen the man laugh?
Kaveh's mind is drawing a blank on the latter and it...bothers him deeply.

Kaveh devises a plan to get Alhaitham to smile by being aggressively nice to the man (and also maybe if he makes Alhaitham happy, he can score a discount on his rent or something). Alhaitham thinks Kaveh ate some mind-altering mushrooms and is, understandably, confused and mildly afraid.Series
