In which moving to Hurricane, Utah thrusts you into a battle over life and death.
Okay-- maybe that's a little overdramatic, but making new friends in a small town is difficult, especially when everyone seems to know each other. That being said, the one person you do end up close to is somehow tied to the disappearances of several children, a mystery that's lasted for six long years. Surely you'll be fine -- you're not the target group, and neither is he. Yet lingering in the back of your mind is a less than gentle possibility:
Killers devolve when desperate.
[NOTE: this story is HEAVILY canon divergent, even from the few bits of canon we can fully confirm.]

“I just canceled the food order that was supposed to come in this month,” you tell him, moving your gaze down from his face to the papers, then the glass – then the floor between you. “Luckily, the supplier didn’t ship yet, so, uh, we were able to get a refund.”
A heavy sigh runs through him, and both his hand and shoulders drop their tension. “Thank you,” he mutters, glancing up at you through now-displaced strands of hair. “You’ve been nothing but reliable these past few days. And I… I must be quite the nuisance.”
He smiles sarcastically at his own words and downs the rest of the glass, then moves to pour himself another drink.
“So reliable… But I know you’ll leave, too. This place is a hellhole – and if you don’t run, it’ll take you.”

Your boss, William Afton, has gone through hell: a freak accident that led to the death of his youngest, and a divorce that took his wife and remaining kids. Now, he was never the kindest, but he was certainly that stern and protective "tough love" sort of boss you appreciated -- and with all that's happened, you can't help but feel sorry for the man.
He's always been good to you. You wonder if he'd be good for you.
