Mario turned all his attention to Bowser. “I’ve been meaning to talk to you.”
Bowser felt his body freeze in time with his mind short-circuiting, standing there and just staring. The mechanical buzz of the lights above them filled the silence whilst he continued gaping at Mario, feeling his finger twitch for something.
They didn’t just do that. You didn’t just walk up to your enemy and say you’ve been meaning to talk to them. That you want to talk to them. And when the time came to talk… whatever he was planning, Bowser could feel cold dread go down his spine.“Something strikes me as odd about our rivalry, and I would like to ask a few questions! How about we meet sometime?” He continued.

Peach discovers that her 'favourite toad' is missing and asks Mario to go retrieve 'it', and so Mario goes to the first person he could think of who would have stolen it; Bowser. However, upon accidentally stumbling into his living room, he discovers that Bowser isn't what he seems- guess they have something in common.
As time goes on, Mario starts to understand the truth of the two opposing kingdoms. -
