“Annoying creature, why aren’t you coming out?” Zasza’s voice sounded through the closed door. Oki could picture their rolled eyes perfectly, the way his beak would click and their feathers would ruffle in annoyance. It was almost enough to make him want to open the door and tease them, just to see it. Almost.
Oki barely reacted when the door to his room clicked open, the rhazzi entering his quarters. “They’re going to kill me if you curl up and die under my watch,” they muttered, “So- You lazy man-child, you’re still asleep.”
