Summary
“Dr. Mohan, this is Emery Walsh. She’s been assigned to keep you safe until law enforcement can guarantee there’s no longer any threat against you.”
She stands shorter than Samira by just a few inches, dark hair pulled back into a low bun. She isn’t dressed how one might expect her to be, in a dark suit and tie like they often portray in movies and television. Instead, she’s wearing a black t-shirt, sleeves hugging well defined arms and broad shoulders. The shirt is tucked into black slacks that are held up by a belt, a holster on her hip.
Oh, Christ.
Samira skips the pleasantries, “Is the gun really necessary?”
She can hear Dr. Robby let out a sigh, but her eyes don’t leave Emery. She can see the slight tug of her lips, “Based on the information I’ve been given, Dr. Mohan, and the contents of the letters you received, yes. The gun may be necessary.”
or,
samira mohan, a medical researcher working to develop ways to detect and treat a rare form of cancer, receives a series of threatening letters. the pittsburgh cancer institute hires personal security to ensure her safety until law enforcement has the situation under control. enter emery walsh (and her team, of course.)

Summary
She walks up to the table slowly, casually, trying not to call any attention to herself as her eyes scan the dance floor in search of a certain senior resident. She still hasn’t found her when a voice rings out, “Your girl’s here, she’s just in the bathroom.”
Emery whips her head around, brows pinched and a frown on her face. It came from Garcia, of course, who looks at her now with the same annoying smirk as before.
“Your girl?” Ellis asks, surprise on her face. She leans forward, forearms resting on the table, hands folded. “Since when do you have a girl?”
“I don’t.” Emery shakes her head, still glaring at Yolanda. “She’s just being annoying.”
Yolanda laughs and looks over at Parker, tilting her head towards Emery and crossing her arms. “She’s got a crush.”
or; after years of silent longing from afar, emery walsh and samira mohan spend a night together. what starts as something casual slowly turns into something more, and one of them decides to leave before the other can break their heart.

Samira’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise. “Oh, that’s- I don’t really think that’s necessary, Dr. Collins, it’s-“

Summary
Laena freezes, “Is there a reason you’re just telling me this now?”
Alicent takes another bite of her salad, “I haven’t seen you in three days.”
Laena just shakes her head, “Excuses, Alicent. We both have phones. We have to celebrate this!”
Alicent looks at her like she’s grown a second head, “Why would we-“
“Because you’re free! At least for the next three days. You can go out! Get drunk! Maybe even find something or someone to help you.. unwind?”
Alicent hisses, “Will you lower your voice when suggesting I find someone who isn’t my husband to sleep with?”
“I’m texting everyone right now.” Laena picks up her phone, fingers moving rapidly, “We’re going out tonight. No excuses.”
Alicent looks down at her salad, pretends she’s setting up the perfect bite, “Rhaenyra, as well?”
Laena looks at her and smirks, “I knew it.”
or,
Alicent's stuck in a miserable marriage. She spends her time in her office, with her work, and she's just fine with that. When she finally agrees to go out with Laena, she meets Rhaenyra, a (handsome) researcher who's just as fond of the histories as she is, and she can't help but think about the possibilities laid out in front of her.

and while you try to get away from the sound—
of feet running, hearts beating, skin breaking
the discordant layers of different melodies you cannot control
you bury yourself, push it down and run
escape where no one really knows your name
you will find the iridescent silence of company

Summary
“Dr. Walsh,” Samira called, adjusting the bag on her shoulder. “You’re still here?”
Emery’s head lifted. For a beat, surprise flickered across her features before she smoothed it away. “Paperwork,” she said simply. “Piles up whether I’m here or not.”
Samira smiled, sipping her coffee. “At least paperwork doesn’t bleed all over your shoes.”
The past several months had been rough for Dr. Samira Mohan, but now she was finding her footing again: taking on more shifts, steadying her routine, and wrestling with an unfamiliar pull toward Dr. Emery Walsh.

That said, when Alicent discovers them, she might just decide to finish what the explosion started, so Rhaenyra’s fate is still yet to be determined.
