Summary
Legends-based AU (though using some elements from Disney-canon) centred around the Empire of the Hand, a faction in the Unknown Regions developed by Grand Admiral Thrawn, first touched upon by Timothy Zahn in The Hand of Thrawn Duology, but forgotten about by all the other Legends authors. I imagine the Empire of the Hand to be a lot stronger in my AU, since after Thrawn's death, it's headed by his wife, Xelarra, Empress of the Hand.
The fanfics in this series also form the "foundation" of my original novel, "The Spiral Empire".

I'm not usually one for AOS, but this story is really cool. The Sh'raan is a lot less boring than T'Lynn's old ship on Lower Decks, and Kirk, while still annoyingly more Zapp Brannigan than is Prime self, is turning more into a three-dimensional character with every chapter.

Summary
Kitti Ping Yung did much for Pern, including engineering dragons from the small native fauna of the planet. But one change that she tried to impart into the novel species failed to stick. When centuries of culturally encouraged cruelty leads to what seems to be the end of dragon-kind, Kitti Ping's failure may well become Pern's salvation.

Note regarding rape/non-con: There are no graphic sex scenes in this fic, hence the "Mature" instead of "Explicit" rating. Pern has some pretty messed up standards, and I feel it is my responsibility to call it what it is. What many Gold and Greenriders experience in the books when their dragons mate is not sex: it's rape.
