Danny Fenton and Danny Phantom are not actually the same person. Nobody really knew that until a terrible incident with his mad scientist parents forces the revelation. Danny rescued Phantom and now he must find allies outside of Amity to stop an interdimensional war before it can begin. Finding these allies however will mean Phantom must confront the life he lost, the people he never got the chance to meet, and the people he never would have wanted to meet again.
