Summary
He loves her, he thinks, in a weird sort of way. Loves her like a bird loves a cage, like a moth loves a candle flame. She is the one reason he’s alive, and so many of the reasons he wishes he weren’t. She hurts him, but never as much as he wants her to, never enough to soothe his pain. She is the only person on this island that he doesn’t hate, and he thinks this is the closest thing to love he can have now.
She has succeeded in molding him, but he doesn’t think she’s happy with the result. He is dried clay and sharp pottery shards all in too many pieces to put back together. It doesn’t stop her from trying.

Of course she doesn’t know. She doesn’t care. She never has.

She’s still disoriented so it takes her a couple of seconds to put two and two together: the lack of familiarity in his eyes, how she’s standing in an exit stairwell while he’s still hovering in a decidedly Lumon-esque hallway. That is not her husband. That is not her husband. Oh god.
