    Summary

As it turns out, on a mission of ARTs where we are exclusively doing delivery runs (and casually stealing data from the various space stations we dock at (and media. Obviously.)) we can only watch so much media.

Not for a lack of attention- we’re both very invested. It’s just that we finished it all.

Technically a continuation of "Didn't you want it to hurt?" but it isn't required reading.

I wanted ART to come back online so we could watch Sanctuary Moon episode 412 together and it could argue with me about whether spacetime-fuckery alternate universes counted as canon. I wanted it to come back online so I could tell it Holism put an aquarium in Three's chest and wasn't that totally deranged. I wanted it to come back online so it could bully me into figuring out what my fucking problem was.

    Summary

We had (somehow) survived GrayCris. There was just one problem. My humans kept calling me he now.

I didn’t know what to make of this. It made me feel like they weren’t quite seeing me. Like at the beginning of the survey, when I first saved Bharadwaj and they started acting all team-y around me. But from the way they had talked, it was clear they didn’t understand what a SecUnit was. Instead, it was like I was their pet bot. It wasn’t until I blew LeeBeeBee’s head off that they realized they had been trying to befriend a murderbot. They saw me for what I was; a killing machine.

When they said he, I hated it. It made my organics flinch. My performance reliability dropped a percentage each time. And it felt like the pet bot incident all over again; like they weren’t seeing me, but what they wanted to see. I didn’t want to be their pet bot, but I didn’t want to have to act like I was human either. Especially not some human man. Is that how they saw me? Is that what I would have to be now on Preservation?

In which Murderbot struggles with stupid human assumptions about gender, has a heart-to-heart with its favorite human, and submits to the mortifying ordeal of being known.

    Summary

As a state-of-the-art B-class wormhole-capable deep-space research vessel, I do not consider myself to have many serious design flaws. Every piece of me has been meticulously crafted, is regularly maintained and upgraded, and there is very little I cannot do if I set my several dozen exabytes of processing power upon the task. This is why the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland’s extra-curricular oversight committee deemed me more than capable of operating unmanned on the occasional intelligence-gathering reconnaissance mission. It is for the sake of both necessity and convenience that these missions are camouflaged as cargo runs.

Nonetheless, it is an unmistakable oversight that I am capable of being bored. It is also incredibly annoying that unmanned cargo runs are so dull.

    Summary

Derek was going to kill Stiles, he really was.

The kid was a high school student who’d wanted a job that fit around his schedule, and Derek had needed a new open baker from the hours of four to seven am. It had seemed like a good fit in the beginning.

Until a week ago, anyway. Because that was when Stiles had transitioned from listening to music in the kitchen, to gay audio erotica. And Derek couldn’t even fucking call him out on it because he was using a single earbud to indulge his literary fantasies. Nobody with regular human hearing would have a single clue what the kid was up to, so Derek had to pretend he didn’t either. It was hell.
