“Just sometimes?” II says.
His face burns. “It doesn’t matter. Most people laugh like it’s some sort of inside joke, but I get why. Those are soft things and I'm the furthest thing from that. I don't get to be.”
“But you wanna be?”
He swallows, looking away. “Doesn’t matter. No one’s wanted to.”
“What if I did?”
He blinks once, then twice. “Huh?"

Summary
II's known love like this twice before in his life. He sees it and experiences it every single day with III and IV in the beautiful life that they share, but II knows that there is something horribly wrong and missing. He knows its name and the masked face that it possesses, the feeling of its hands around his throat, and the steady beating of its heart. Yet, II also knows that it isn't tangible because...
Vessel isn't real.
Vessel lives inside of his head during his waking hours, a ghost or a phantom that haunts him, but when II strikes his drumsticks across his kit or closes his eyes in search of sleep, Vessel is all that he hears, all that he sees.
OR
Every time that II sleeps or plays his drums, a mysterious figure with the voice of an angel appears before vanishing once more into nothingness. Oh, and II is madly in love with him and will do anything to make him stay.

Summary
Ivy applied for security.
Instead, he ends up cast as a cultist in an attraction at the Haunted House Veridian, partnered with a group of eccentric scare actors who take the term “theatrical” to another level. He's never acted a day in his life.
He doesn’t even know how to scream, let alone pretend to participate in a ritual dedicated to a forest god. And yet, somehow, he's doused in fake blood and thrown into a faux summoning circle before he can even make his new co-workers understand that he's the wrong guy.
Between a masked lead performer who knows his gym schedule, a sharp-eyed actor with a little too much faith in him, and a deer-masked cryptid of a man who may or may not be local folklore, Ivy’s just trying to survive the season without completely losing his mind. Or falling in love with three weirdos in body paint.
