Taggie is bringing tea, hard biscuits and sandwiches. But she likes to think that’s almost as important.
At her father's newspaper, the Dublin Tribune, Taggie sees everyone and everything as she feeds the staff from her trusty lunch cart. Including the side businesses Declan runs, dealing in information and smuggled goods. When he makes a new connection with Rupert Campbell-Black, former Olympian, horse breeder, and black market smuggler, Taggie wonders if she's finally found that tiny spark of joy amidst wartime.

If he were still religious, Rupert might find it a fitting divine justice, wanting the one thing he cannot have. He’s certainly committed enough transgressions in his life to warrant bursting into flames if he stepped foot in a church again.
But searching Taggie’s face from afar, he realizes she looks more like redemption than anything else.
