(This spooky story is completely AU and something I decided to write for October. I've written these original characters for a decade with friends and decided to bring them to AO3 as well. Alistair and Fenella were vaguely based on Peter and Michelle. Expect deep dives into the supernatural and Victorian society. Slow romance is the best kind. This is my submission for the Dramione Vs. The Dead Fest.
Initially, I claimed a prompt for a Victorian AU with the prompt of "Hermione is hired to be the governess at a creepy old mansion by a pureblood recluse named Draco. She can't help but be drawn to him and his sweet child, Scorpius, but there's something wrong about that house."
I thought that I would write something short form, but the ghost of the Manor possessed me and drove me mad with longing, and I ended up pouring more into this fic than I thought I would. There's not much of a summary I have; the prompt itself pretty much is telling.
Very heavily influenced by Haunting of Bly Manor, with a touch of something from Haunting of Hill House. Please mind the tags before proceeding. I've never written a dead dove fic before, so I'm entirely sure if this belongs, but I tagged it as such anyway to be safe. There is suicide written in this story, but that is my biggest trigger warning for you all.
