When Sylvie was a child her father brought home a Midgardian boy to keep her and her brother company, and they all grew up together, with Loki fitting into an odd space between the family and their servants, neither one thing nor the other.
When adulthood arrives she suddenly finds their not-quite-friend compelling, and while at first this seems like an embarrassing problem she realises it might prove useful when her mother starts talking about finding her a husband - they can’t marry her off if she’s already married, after all.
But while Sylvie can’t see any real downside to a marriage of convenience to a man she finds attractive, things look rather less safe and secure from lower down the social ladder…
