The question was desperate, a itch for an answer.
It’s heavy, the silence. Satoru, in all of his strength and pride, teeters on the edge of vulnerability that only Suguru can see. But that question alone burrowed itself into his mind every time he looked at the hollowed out boy who came down from those mountains that day in healthy condition.
It’s wearing Suguru’s face, squirming in his body, puppeteering his best friend's corpse. A bitter feeling coats his tongue when he finally makes eye contact with the same face he’s grown to love. The skin doesn’t fit his bones, Satoru notices. Because he doesn’t belong to it.
“I’m supposed to be the perfect copy of him…..how did you know?”
