The man in front of him was gorgeous, with two toned hair and slanted eyes, his face impassive and perfect. Akito’s mouth ran dry. The boy’s hair fell in wet clumps, perfectly framing his expression. Akito let his eyes wander down his porcelain skin, settling in the drop of his shoulder with awe. He was lean and beautiful, Akito had to pinch his forearm to make sure he wasn’t dreaming. He looked down further and saw the shining tail, tangled with his previously set net. It was illuminating the water of its soft blue hue.
“I’m sorry…” the mermaid finally spoke, bringing Akito out of his stupor. “I’m… stuck.”

“What happened?” Toya asked gently, placing a hand on Akito’s shoulder, comforting him with that small gesture.
Akito swallowed. “I… Father arranged for me to marry Her Highness Mafuyu of the Asahina Kingdom without telling me beforehand…” He watched as Toya’s eyes widened in shock, feeling glad that he wasn’t the only one who thought that what his father did was insane. “I told him that I didn’t want to marry her, and in the end… he… slapped me.”
Toya’s eyes softened as he heard Akito’s words. “Oh, Akito…” he muttered softly.
Akito shook his head. “Doesn’t matter now. There’s no point arguing, anyway. I can’t do anything to change his mind… besides, this is for the good of the kingdom and all… so, I really shouldn’t do anything about it now…”
He then found Toya staring right into his eyes. “There’s another option,” he began slowly.
Akito blinked, confused for a second as to what Toya was trying to tell him. Then, he knew exactly what Toya was talking about, and shook his head. “No, no way. We’ve been through this, Toya, man, c’mon. We’re not doing it. Never.”

Akito's tired of his current life. Toya offers a plan to leave it behind and start a new one, but at what cost?
