He nearly trips on Eddie’s boot when he sneaks in the front door. A yell leaves his mouth and the dog next to him barks.
Shit.
He hears footsteps coming down the stairs and the light in the hall turns on. Eddie’s standing there, frozen, in only a pair of Steve’s sweatpants and socks. His feet are always cold, but he hates the way shirts rub against his still healing scars on his stomach and side. Steve doesn’t complain.
Eddie looks down at the dog at Steve’s feet, then back up at Steve.
