And while he gushes about his manservant, ignoring his sister that look like she wants him to shut up, said manservant was hiding behind the screen in Morgana's room, because Arthur just interrupted their magic lesson.

“Merls, I see how you two look at each other” Gwaine exclaimed “For fucks sake!”
“We do not look at each other in any way” Merlin replied flustered.
“Oh, come off it, Merls. During training today, you looked like you wanted to be a damsel in distress just so that your knight in shining armor could save you!” Gwaine joked, laughing at Merlin’s fluster.
“I did not,” Merlin laughed, blushing. A detail that didn’t go unnoticed by Gwaine.
“You did! Oh I bet. Your crush on the princess is embarrassing” Merlin threw something at Gwaine, making him laugh even louder.
“Shut it! someone is going to hear you” Merlin said while Gwaine kept laughing.
He didn’t deny his crush. Arthur frowned with a knot on his throat and he walked away. He should have known better than letting himself hope. A new day awakened and Arthur decided to put Merlin and Artesia out of his mind. He really hoped that in some way that he misinterpreted all the situation someway but clearly not.

Arthur runs to Merlin’s side and holds him. Merlin sobs harder but embraces the hug. Merlin curls into Arthur’s chest. He tries to soothe Merlin the best he can. “I’m here” Arthur whispers and gives a short kiss on his neck. Arthur makes Merlin lay down again, gets his boots off and lays down beside him. Arthur keeps repeating between kisses ‘I’m here’ caressing Merlin’s hair and cuddling him until Merlin falls asleep and soon enough Arthur too.
