-and that’s when he sees them. In the light, they glint red, curling around the periphery of Hikaru’s face.
The amusement falls off Yoshiki’s lips, as he stares at Hikaru’s laughing, ever so slightly fracturing skin.
Sweat and hair fall into his eyes. He blinks, and the red cuts are gone. It’s the same face- the one he’d know anywhere.
“You good?” Hikaru is still leaning over him, face pinched in concern. No cracks. Just a trick of the light.
“Yeah, sorry.” He coughs, pushing Hikaru off him and sitting up. “I think the heat is getting to me.”

POV: you’re the poor minimum wage cashier just trying to make ends meet around your university degree, but by an outrageous stroke of bad luck, you’ve picked the shop next to the League of Villains’ hideout.
Not that you know that, though. You’re just really, really fed up with all these strange people constantly frequenting the store during your night shift. You’re not paid enough to deal with all these supervillains and policemen- and is that Hawks? Where have all the normal customers gone? Surely this is infringing on your worker health and safety rights.
The solution to surviving to the next morning, you find, is either praying for a midnight miracle or ignoring reality to live in increasingly concerning levels of denial. Maybe a bit of both. You haven’t quite figured it out. However, a job is a job, and, somehow, you make it work.

Summary
Summer break is ending, and, in many ways, it feels like everything else is too. Suddenly, it’s all back to normal; Deacon is going back to college, Prunella to school, while Chase figures out what to do with his suddenly empty life.
Their fairy-tale holiday has reached its final pages, but their happily-ever-after is still yet to come. Unfortunately for them, it’s going to be harder than ever to keep writing the story.

I was rewatching the Q&A livestream, and when Punko said “Deacon is going to go places in season two”, I was like GASP!!! ‘go places’ = ‘literally go somewhere’... does that include ‘going back to college’??. She definitely meant it metaphorically, but I thought it would be interesting to explore how they would handle going back to their normal lives. And so, this was born.

what do you do when all life does is shut doors in your face? in this episode, Chase and Buddy face the some of the universal challenges of life: finding lost items, appreciating literature, and being forced to be in the company of someone for much longer than one can sanely handle.

“Who would’ve known a piece of furniture could make such a loud noise”, Chase mutters, while walking over to the front of the room. “So dramatic and unnecessary, door. You hear me?”
The closed door silently stares at him. Chase stares back. And turns the handle.
And turns the handle again.
“Wait-”
“Let me try, idiot.” Buddy reaches past him.
Chase puts his hands up in mock surrender. “Okay, if you think you’re so good at opening doors, go ahead.”
Buddy grabs the handle. It turns easily. They both fall silent, the room still in suspense. But when Buddy pushes, arms straining against the door, there is no further movement.
“Uh oh.”

He puts up a hand to demonstrate. His fingers twitch and move slowly, very slowly, to the position of Blue.
Suguru’s mouth opens, and shuts. And opens again. “What.” His voice is flat, in disbelief.
