“Well, if we’re gonna be working together, we should introduce ourselves,” Grian said, testing out how the idea felt. There was a tightness in his chest at the thought of really leaving, but a lightness on his shoulders from the lifted stress. “Hi. I’m Grian, wanted criminal and former student of magic.”
The stranger’s eyes crinkled when he grinned. “So lovely to meet you, Grian! I’m GoodTimesWithScar, Scar for short, salesman and entrepreneur extraordinaire!” He stuck out a hand for Grian to shake.
Grian took it.

“Don’t you have food?”
Scar laughed nervously. “No. Do you?”
Grian felt a little pang of panic. He double checked his inventory—nothing. He didn’t want to look back at Scar and his bloodied face and tell him that no, this time Grian couldn’t help him. It was Grian’s fault, and Grian couldn’t help him.
“I bet Bdubs did,” he said instead of admitting that he somehow hadn’t brought basic supplies to a fight, though it wasn’t like Scar had either.
He didn’t. Grian triple checked the items floating in the pond, even though the muddy, bloodstained water on his skin made him feel disgusting, even though he knew after the first pass that there was nothing, nothing, nothing.
Somehow, between the final three people in this entire server, there was no food at all, and Scar was bleeding, and one of them was a dead man walking and he hoped it wasn’t Scar.
or, Scar is injured, there's no way to have a double victory, and there's a lot of time to talk on the way up to Monopoly Mountain.

Summary
Technoblade picked up the phone without pause, a motion he repeated more than eight or nine times an hour. He wouldn't say he disliked getting calls, it was a break from his grading, but he wasn't the fondest of talking to confused students.
Techno recited his little speech into the receiver, telling the caller that they'd reached his professor's office and that they were speaking to a TA.
Through the phone, where Techno normally expected to be told of an issue, there was shuffling. A curt clack and the ring of a bell in the distance.
After a few moments of silence, Techno went to speak, but closed his mouth as music started to play through the phone. It was strange and uneven, shaky piano notes that sounded live, and it was no melody he had ever heard before. It was nothing more than six notes and a panicked breath before the phone began to hum as the line was cut off.
Techno pulled the phone away from his ear.
"What the hell?"Or
Technoblade was found four years after going missing at age eight. His younger brother never was. Ten years later, Techno started getting phone calls.
