Bookmarker's Notes
Every time they fuck, Roy thinks, anyway, this is the last time . He’s not going to fall for it again. He’s not going to give in to his own animal needs. He’s not going to listen to that echo inside him, that cavernous space begging to be filled.
He’s going to be an adult, and he’s going to either talk it out or walk away. No matter how much Dick bats his eyelashes, no matter how much Roy wants to kiss him, no matter how much he wants to devour him until his whole body hurts with it — Roy’s not going to fall for it again.
He does fall for it again, multiple times over the next few days.

(You, begging without words: please, put me out of my goddamn misery.
His answer, as always:
Not a chance.)
Then it's over. Then he has to start all over again.
Each moment, getting shorter. Each moment, losing its edge. Each moment driving you further from the high, and him closer to the limit of what he can handle.
Enough, he says. That's enough, Dick.
But he's wrong; you can take it, you can take much, much more than that.

Summary
“I'm not afraid of falling, Bruce,” Dick says casually when the man's silence is an answer enough, pulling himself up to sit on the pole again, eyes a bright and relentless blue. The boy frowns, “My parents weren't afraid of falling either.”
Bruce feels his heart lurch in his chest. The ground seems very, very far away, “Dick."
“Bruce,” Dick replies easily, smiling something sad and faint, “Don't be scared. Falling is half the fun.”
(Bruce teaches Robin how to use a grapple, and Dick teaches Batman how to fly.)

Bookmarker's Notes
Because that's what Dick is doing. He's flying.
After the appearances of Superman and the like, Bruce knows the chances of people flying isn't too bizarre of a phenomenon to happen, but there's a cynical and bitter part of him that wouldn't call any of that flying. Floating, maybe, or zooming as some do.
But flying seems completely reserved to those who actually enjoy it. Like they were made to live amongst clouds and above city skylines, practically touching the sun with their fingertips. Bruce is not sure he's ever seen anyone, or anything like that.

Summary
Ra’s face is frozen on the screen, lips curled upward in smug, victorious pleasure.
Tim doesn’t know how to look away.
Dick is moving, grabbing Damian where he’s come up to see what’s going on as well. He puts his body between the boy and the screen, ignoring his startled protest. “Jason,” he snaps. “Take him into the manor, now.”
Tim lets out a shuddery breath, grabbing the back of the second chair and dropping into it, hand still linked with Cass’s.
His chest feels hollow.
“Tim - ” Bruce says hoarsely, but he cuts him off.
“Where did you get this footage?” he asks, voice flat and empty.
Bruce swallows. “It was sent to me,” he says quietly.
He huffs a laugh. It’s an awful, cored-out sound. “By Ra’s,” he murmurs.

Bookmarker's Notes
For a moment, he still doesn’t know what he’s looking at, brain unable to connect what he’s seeing to what he - he recognizes.
Because he does. Recognize it.
He recognizes the smooth expanse of skin as it presses against fine silk sheets. He recognizes the dark mop of hair on the bowed head, the man draped across the boy’s arched back, the way he mouths and pants at the pale neck with every harsh thrust into the smaller body pinned beneath him.
He recognizes all of it, remembers every agonizing moment of it.
He’s just never seen it from this angle before.
