    Over the years, Porsche has been resolute in his teachings that shifters aren’t bad people. They’re a small minority of the population that have been historically misunderstood. People like Porsche starred in horror stories long before they were recognised as equal beings, and a lot of that stigma remains.

    In which a portion of the population has shifter blood, an ability to fully transform into an animal at will. And despite the shifter equality movement and the shifter rights act of 1980, there are still plenty of hurdles for those with two bodies to overcome.

She knows he will expect her to acquiesce, to drive her deviance from her system. And she knows, no matter how hard she tries, she will never be the son he wanted, or the heir he needs.

    It’s amazing how freeing that knowledge has been. How many moves you can make, when your goal is not to end up on top, but to do as much damage to someone as possible before you’re wiped off the board.

    Let everyone else play chess. Vegas is playing another game entirely.
