Summary
Wei Ying’s eyes fluttered, and she turned away. Forcing her body up and out of the bed. She felt like a flower fighting through the heaviness of snow. Trying to escape the cold, trying to reach the shy spring sun. It didn’t matter if this was a dream or something else. She was going to continue on as if it were real. If it wasn’t, and she wasted what could be her last time seeing Wei Ying… she didn't know how she'd cope with it. So she would cherish this, and then bear the consequences.
She didn't know what it would cost to have this time. She couldn't find it in her to care. It was selfish. But she was tired, and she'd already given so much. Wasn't she allowed to have this? Just for a moment. Just until her eyes were open again and she was stuck hurting and desperate, in that reality that was filled with fire and absent of her love. Was it so selfish for her to want to sleep?
She made her way back across the room to discard her boots, then quietly pulled a box of medical supplies off a shelf. She'd hungered for this in that way she rarely did. In that way the rules forbid. So she would cherish this until it was gone.
The notion was not unfamiliar.

He couldn’t remember the crash, couldn’t remember anything really, nothing since his last phone call with Pappa.
He didn’t know how long ago that had been, didn’t know how long ago anything had been. The only thing he knew for certain was that he severely regretted opening his eyes and that he needed to pee. More so than he’d ever needed to pee in his entire life.
