Summary
A long time ago, before the world had learned the sciences, before its people lost their intuition for the magic around them, people told stories to one another about how the Earth and the Skies changed. They told stories about sun and rain, about how the trees and waters moved, about the changing seasons. They saw personalities in each aspect of the Earth, and they crafted beautiful and tragic stories about the cast of characters they observed in Nature.
But two of the pantheon captured the world’s attention above all others. They composed stories, yes, but as humanity found other forms of expression, they dedicated their pieces to these two more than any other. Literature and dance, painting and poetry, and music, written and created and performed for the princes of the heavens:
Day and Night.
Sun and Moon.
Nick and Charlie.

The second they were gone, Darcy was up and punching him in the shoulder. “Oh my god, you are so jealous, I love it.”
“Darc,” he said glaring at her. “It’s not funny.”
“No it’s funny,” Elle said grinning. “You get all flustered and it’s just fun to see you being a hot mess for once.”
Nick glared at them. “Jokes on you, I’m a bisexual disaster all the time.”
“You know Charlie only has eyes for you, yeah?” Tara asked him. “You don’t need to worry.”
“I’m not worried,” Nick insisted. “Everyone gets jealous, everyone’s allowed a bit of jealousy,” he said, remembering what Charlie had said to him.

Summary
Nick rested his forehead against Charlie’s, gently bumping their noses together. Charlie moved his hand between their chests and quickly snapped his fingers, his face appearing out of the darkness, cast in a flickering, golden glow. Nick glanced down in surprise to see a tiny flame dancing around in Charlie’s palm.
“Besides Tori, you’re the only other person in this world that I trust with my life. I trust that when we’re together, that you’ll keep me safe. So far, you’ve done nothing to prove me wrong. I wanted to tell you about this, I didn’t because… the last person that found out I had magic… it didn’t end well.”
“Your parents.” He said quietly, watching as the flame wove its way through Charlie’s fingers as they flexed. “They found out about your magic, didn’t they?”
“Sort of,” Charlie admitted, “Mum found out that Tori had magic, and you kind of know what happened after that. But, I remember just being so upset, and everything was coming to a head, so I made her rosary explode. And then we were running.”
