“The goddamn rock.”
There’s a beat of silence.
“Uh,” Sero says. “What?”
“You heard me!” Katsuki barks. “That fucking—” He starts strangling the air again with renewed force, “—rock.”
Kirishima and Ashido exchange a glance.
Jirou finally looks up from her notebook to frown at Katsuki. “Okay, we know what those words mean, but not like that. What are you talking about?”
“His stupid rock!” Katsuki repeats, frustrated. At Jirou’s unimpressed look, he elaborates, “that stupid fucking rock he’s taking everywhere!”
Todoroki makes a new friend. Bakugou hates his whole goddamn life.

When they’re fighting together. When Clark is lying in bed at night, anxious without reason, he closes his eyes and listens for that familiar drum beat. He doesn’t track it, doesn’t listen for how far it is or where it’s located. He can’t risk accidentally revealing Batman’s identity. He just listens. It’s like a strange sort of lullaby, and it works every time.
It's a dependency, he knows.
