Summary
It’s not until George is finally drifting off to sleep, feeling sticky and used, that he really sees it. He sees the man he used to be, brazen and content. He misses that man dearly.
He wonders how he withered away into bruises on thighs and scarring on wrists. He wonders if he could still turn back or if it’s too late for him.
He wraps his arms tighter around himself, sobbing silently as his fingers dig into his rib cage. He doesn’t want to spend the rest of his life like this. But he doesn't want to die tonight, either.
If you want, I can fly out. Or you can come here.
Maybe it's time George let somebody love him.

A beat of silence before Karl’s drunk mind met Sapnap’s in the middle, “Probably, yeah.”

Dream was speechless, with eyes wide and mouth still agape. George reached out, four fingers pressing to the underneath of Dream’s chin to close his mouth for him, “Can I watch with you?”
Dream took in a deep breath, “Uh- yeah, yeah, if you’re cool with it. We can watch it together.”or George catches Dream watching porn in the living room and Dream catches feelings.

“Please come pick me up,” George whispers, cutting a gut-deep cry with a broken-hearted sound. He pleads. He begs. Because he wants Dream here, pressing his hipbone into the bed and bumping it into George’s until he ruins him with a bruise, the shape of a heart, the shape of his mouth.
Dream muffles a sound in his throat, holding himself back from a drive across state borders that would get him to George. “I know, sweetheart.”
He is strong for both of them tonight. And surely, that has to be enough.
A flight stuck in New York before Christmas calls for thoughts of doubt.

"Because I’m scared that I am going to end up loving you a little too hard.”
George doesn't know what to say to him, not after they were just bickering about sugar scrubs and joking about toothpastes and soaps and scents. It's not too far, it's just unexpected—like an arrow has shot through their protection of ice and shattered below their bare feet.
Now they drip. Bleeding would be too painful for them. And these words from Dream's mouth are warmed tones and far from dull. If he bled from Dream's tongue, it would kill him.

Summary
Love loosens the grip of depression on the soul.
That was something that had stuck with George since he overheard it in passing from a group at the library table next to him. Something about the phrase ingrained itself into his mind, and he wasn’t quite sure why.
Maybe because it was total bullshit.
Maybe because “love” never seemed to do much of anything but make him anxious and mad.

George thinks it's almost like there's a force field keeping them apart. They're two magnets with the same polarity.
He doesn't mind. He doesn't think he minds, anyway. It's enough to be around Dream, much though George sometimes feels like a planet caught in Dream's orbit, helpless but to follow the motion of the sun. That's not so bad, though. And the planets never get too close to the star they're orbiting, after all.
But he does wonder if it's intentional.

Now it's Dreams turn to stare, mink blanking.
He has a point, but Dream can't seem to make sense of it, what kind of answer he's looking for, or what answer to give other than 'so be it.' “Then we have fun with it and move on again. If we both, like, want it, then I don't see why—I mean, what's so wrong with that?”
“'If we both want it,'” George echoes slowly and Dream desperately wishes he knew how to shut the hell up sometimes. “Do you...? Want that?”
He's fairly certain his heart skips a beat or two.

He’d known George was small, he was very open about the fact in his teases and chides, but he’d never fully let himself understand their proportions, as the ocean between them was not moving any time soon, so it didn’t seem to matter. Now he was faced with the fact that George was really small.
Some deep, guttural part of him seemed to like it, too.
Or, in which Dream lets himself indulge in fanworks and realizes a few too many things about both himself and his best friend during his fall.

The bedroom was small and bare, only a queen-sized mattress on the ground and a curtain already fallen off its rod. There were no chests or drawers or even hangers. Just a bed on the ground and a closet for his suitcases.
But after everything, George couldn’t be mad.
Because this was forever.
