Summary
Tommy glances over to the door and very much doesn’t jump when he sees Wilbur staring at the two of them, standing in the doorway with his arms straight by his side like a brown haired, glasses-wearing slenderman.
“What’s up, big man?” He asks, not at all startled. He meets Wilbur’s somewhat dazed look with a raised eyebrow. A few moments pass.
Looking at him, Tommy can gather the answer is nothing good. In terms of panic faces, Wilbur has what Tommy calls an ‘oh, fuck’ face, and then an ‘oh, Fuck-with-a-capital-F’ face. And this is most certainly the second one.

“No,” Kaveh says, thinking. “With my luck, if I did know him already, then he would probably be the worst person I know. Someone like Al-Haitham.” The thought is so absurd that he stops and laughs. “But that would be fucking awful.”
In Kaveh's humble opinion, the title for The Worst Guy In The World is tied between four people: the asshole in his Tuesday eight am, the employee behind the library email account, the guy writing the university's advice column, and the student that the professor he assists always complains about.
It would only be too convenient if they were all the same person. (They are.)

Kaveh raises his hands, palms up. "I have nothing to give, Al-Haitham," he says, and the other's eyes grow fierce.
"You do not have nothing, Kaveh," Al-Haitham says roughly. "You may have buried yourself in your self-doubt, but you are relentless. You shine even when the moon takes governance of the sky."
Kaveh gapes at Al-Haitham. "So what I'm hearing," he says slowly, "is that you will not kick me out for the time being."
"What you're hearing is that I will wait for you," says Al-Haitham.
After all this time, Kaveh has yet to unpack his bags.
