“Gabbro!” the Hatchling cried. Gabbro turned at their name, flute lowered. The Hatchling dashed across the sand and grabbed the astronaut by the shoulders. “I’m stuck in a time loop with Chert. You have to do something.”
“Oh, good luck with that, bud.” They raised their flute.

The Hatchling fumbled the fingers of their gloves together and turned their helmet away. “I’m not just going to- I mean, I want you to come with me.”
Gabbro stared while they ambled after their thoughts, which had scattered across the many winds of Giant’s Deep.
“Gabbro?”
Their ears bumped against the inside of their helmet as they returned to attention. They rolled their shoulders and went back to laying in their hammock. That hadn’t been quite enough time to process an answer, but they found themself replying anyway. “Whatever you want to do, buddy. You’re the one with a dry ship. It’s your call.”
