San wasn’t sure when it had all started. To him, it was just small things he could ignore. It was just another snowflake he saw when he looked at the sky, but he never bothered to look down. And when he did, all he saw was a huge snowball speeding down a slope towards him, so large that it obscured his view of the sun. The descent was anything but quick. He had to live quite a while in anticipation, for it could come crashing down on him any second, without warning and he would have to deal with the messy aftermath.

Summary
San had heard a saying, before. Something about being soft enough to hold a bird in your hands and not hurt it, but steady enough to keep it so it didn’t fly away. He didn’t want to be rough, but that was kind of what he’d ended up being, for a while.
He could lie and say he didn’t know what changed it. What had turned his working hands into softer, kinder ones. What had softened him into something malleable enough to be loved. What allowed him to keep that little bird, sitting happily in his palm, deciding on its own that that was where it wanted to stay. That was where it felt safest, most loved.
He’d never managed to keep hold of something so fleeting before.

Wooyoung's eyes stung as they shuttered open. A hot white light filtered in first, burning his pupils.
Was this heaven? Was it supposed to hurt this badly? He took a moment to assess his condition: limbs in tact, definitely not dead, and holy shit—who the hell was that guy with his hand pressed to his chest?
“No need to thank me,” the man grumbled. His voice was deep and gritty, laced with what Wooyoung immediately recognized as a heavy dose of annoyance. “Don’t look for me after this, got it? I was never here.”
(Alternatively: After waking up from a fatal fall, Wooyoung develops the strange ability to freeze time and the inability to die, and a mysterious man might have something to do with it)
