"I'm broken," Kiyoomi says, his voice short and clipped. Atsumu's eyebrows shoot up. "I'm not like other people. I can't..."
He trails off again and he hates that he can't get the words out. He trusts Atsumu more than anyone and knows he would never hurt him, so why can't he say it?
Atsumu still looks both shocked and sad, but his voice is gentle. "What is it ya can't do, Omi?"
There's a long pause. Kiyoomi's voice is barely a whisper when he finally answers. "Come. I can't come."
Atsumu somehow looks even more surprised. "Ya mean... like, ever?"

There was something about Hinata Shouyou that caught Atsumu’s eyes since high school. It worsened after Hinata signed with the Jackals years later, older, builder, and sun tanned.
Atsumu needed to do something about this crush.
The smartest move wasn’t probably to start sleeping with another teammate.

Miya didn’t see him like that. Probably had just taken pity on the poor single omega and his pup, and wanted to look like the alpha hero in front of his son. Onigiri Miya served hundreds of customers every week, and Miya had probably long forgotten about Kiyoomi and Yukio by now.
Kiyoomi was just embarrassing himself by letting the alpha take up so much space in his mind.

Atsumu had been what Osamu had so quaintly dubbed, “a fucking lunatic”, ever since he met Sakusa Kiyoomi the week prior.
He’d purchased at least ten jasmine-scented candles, though his alpha grumbled at each of them, none of them smelling quite as sweet as Kiyoomi had. He’d dropped a full tray of onigiri when a man with black curly hair (a man who was decidedly not Kiyoomi, Atsumu had realized upon second glance) had walked into the restaurant, his brother asking him what the hell was wrong with him as Atsumu just apologized and began to pick the rice grains from the floor.

“So fussy. You didn’t seem to mind how dirty I was last night,” he says, tone flirty.
“I was drunk. People do stupid things when they’re drunk.”
Grinning, Atsumu shrugs off his jacket as he says, “And am I the stupid thing?”
Sakusa walks further into the room, his back to Atsumu. “I think you can answer that question yourself.”
Atsumu hums, stripping off his shirt and pants because who cares, Sakusa has seen him naked before. “Yet this time you’re sober, and I’m still here.”
“Your stupidity is contagious,” Sakusa says, then throws a glance over his shoulder. His eyes flick up and down Atsumu’s half-naked body before catching his eye, his expression almost bored. “Now shower before I rescind my invitation.”
Atsumu lets out a put-upon sigh, though he can’t quite repress his grin. Only Sakusa Kiyoomi could say shit like rescind and get away with it.

“Plenty of people with small mouths an’ sensitive gag reflexes suck dick. Sounds like the real problem’s that yer scared ya suck at it. No pun intended.” There’s a dangerous gleam in Miya's eye when he leans closer, warm where his thigh and shoulder press into Kiyoomi’s.
Kiyoomi steels himself. It’s the same look that always precedes Miya saying the absolute dumbest shit imaginable.
“’S never too late to learn how to work with whatcha got.” He smirks, lifting his glass to his lips. “If yer not a coward.”

Summary
Atsumu sends over the sets that force Sakusa to play—dare Atsumu admit it—nastier than he's been at the camp so far.
Both challenge the other to do better in their own odd and unique way.
They end up winning the game overall.
At the end of that training camp, Atsumu learns two devastating facts:
1. He and Sakusa work way too well together during a game
2. Sakusa's mouth does know how to form an expression other than a frown and teasing smirks. One of which is also a damn smile—wide and proud—because of winning a game with Atsumu. And that smile does things that Atsumu tries, for the longest time, to ignore.

Atsumu gave a kick to his horse’s side that set her from a slow gait to a full blown gallop past the officials manning the gates. Atsumu ignored the yelling behind them as they bolted down the road and cackled with glee from getting away from them.
They only slowed once they were far enough from the castle grounds and Atsumu went down a well traveled side path that he often took on his way to the city.
