Summary
Wei Wuxian, the Yiling Loazu, destroys the Yin Fu Hu and in the last moment, orders his corpse army to kill him. He dies in the Siege of the Burial Mounds.
And wakes up, shivering with fever, in Lotus Pier, his chest burning from a still fresh Wen brand. He is 17 years old and still has his golden core. Lotus Pier hasn’t fallen. Jiang Fengmian and Yu Ziyuan are still alive. Not, he realises, that he particularly cares about them, Lotus Pier or the Cultivation World in general anymore.
Yu Ziyuan doesn’t know any of this. All she knows is when she finally gets rid of her husband’s bastard, everything somehow goes wrong. It’s all that brat’s fault.

At the sound of his voice Wei Wuxian swung around to stare at Jiang Cheng, his eyes huge and lips slightly parted.
A prickle of unease ran down Jiang Cheng’s spine. This was not typical Wei Wuxian behavior.
“Hello? Wei Wuxian?” Jiang Cheng waved a hand in the direction of his brother’s face.
Wei Wuxian took a shuddering breath than swallowed convulsively and nodded. “Ah… Jiang Cheng. You’re… You’re so… Then this is… Wow. Ok. Wow.”
Or Wei Wuxian gets sent back in time to when he's studying at the Cloud Recesses. The result? Chaos.

Summary
Sun Tzu said, "Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak." Wei WuXian had been one of the top ranked young masters of his generation. He was extremely well educated.
When the invasion came, resentful energy swirled and bodies fell like rain, and no one counted, no one pretended to care about the individuals. The final explosion that killed the Yiling Patriarch destroyed his body utterly, and with his destruction, the wards that had made the land habitable for the Wen remnants disappeared as well. Wei WuXian had been the only person to survive being cast into the burial mounds and he was the only reason that others had survived entering it as well. With his death, even his killers were forced to flee.
They retreated and celebrated their great success, and no one went back to the burial mounds.
"No one" in this case, included A-Yuan as a child and all of his relatives who had hidden in Yiling village for the duration of the invasion. "No one" included the Yiling Patriarch who had a mountain of corpses available to him, to create a battle and lose it utterly so that he would never be attacked again.
