Summary
Still stuck in half-orc form to facilitate their sneaky journey through Moonrise, Astarion is injured in the fight with some defensive skeletons in the Apothecary's Cellar. While he and Tav sit together to recover in the cave, the others go ahead to search the study for anything that can be used to open Astarion's screaming book. But there is one more coffin, unopened, so Tav and Astarion decide to deal with whatever is inside themselves, just to prove that they can. But while they suspect its another skeleton, it turns out to be something far different.

Tav rolled her eyes, suddenly noticing something behind him.“Don’t leave that behind,” she said, pointing towards it so he turned to look at Wyll’s shovel. “He must have forgot it in the excitement.”
“Oh darling, let’s leave it,” he protested, walking mournfully towards it to pick it up. “Look darling, it’s dirty.”
“It’s a shovel, Astarion, what do you expect,” she said dryly. “Here, I’ll carry it.”
“Shovel?” said a third voice suddenly, making them both freeze. “Me Shovel?”

“Darling,” he began, not sure where he was going but knowing he had to say something.“Don't ‘darling’ me,” she warned. “You can't just ‘darling’ your way out of everything.”
“But darling,” he protested, reaching out to take her hands in his to test her theory - but Tav yanked away from him, glaring with furious eyes.
“That works much better when you're beautiful, Astarion,” she snapped. “Trust me, when all that's gone, you're not nearly as tolerable.”
Astarion blinked, caught off guard as Tav froze, clearly realizing as the words left her mouth that she had gone too far.
“I - I -” she stammered, her face going pale beneath her freckles. “I didn't mean - that came out wrong.”

Summary
Heading up to the inn at Waukeen's Rest, Tav, Astarion and the gang decide to investigate the cave of the dead Owlbear. Although the goblins have slaughtered the beast, they decide there may be treasure inside - there isn't, but there is something else unexpected.
***
“This looks interesting,” Wyll called out, holding something aloft as he hurried back over. “Part of a spear.”“Why do we care about part of a spear?” Astarion asked in exasperation.
In reply, Wyll gave him a cheeky wink and waved the top half of a snapped spear towards his face. To Astarion's disgust, a gawking yellow eye was pierced on the broken spear head. He quickly sidestepped behind Tav as Wyll teasingly chased him with it, making what he probably thought was a scary noise.
“Don't touch me,” Astarion muttered, trying not to let the awful looking thing get anywhere near him.

Summary
The year is 1300DR, and Astarion Ancunín awakens in a coffin, driven by a compulsive urge to escape and find Lord Cazador Szarr. Astarion, scared of the unknown fate that awaits him on the Fugue Plane, chooses immortality and accepts the vampire's dark gift. It is only later that he learns how long eternity will be - and how Cazador intends to use the beautiful young lawyer to feed his insatiable lust for power, control ... and blood.
***
“Are you here to claim my gift?” Cazador asked from atop his throne. “Will you embrace immortality, my son? You have tasted death once – how did you like it?”Astarion bowed his head, terror soaring through him. He wasn’t even forty, still an elf-child - he thought he had so much more time to make his mark on the world, earn his place in the kingdom of one God or another. The memory of dimming blackness, the idea of being trapped on the Fugue Plane, his soul unclaimed for eternity, made him shake. All he wanted was one last chance, to survive, to live.
“I accept,” he choked out, not really knowing what he was agreeing to – but it didn’t matter. Anything to escape his fate.
“Then you shall be mine,” Cazador said, rising slowly. “Forever.”

Summary
Having gained access to the blighted village of Moonhaven, Tav and Astarion head down to the apothecary's cellar for him to feed on her. Finally alone, high on her blood, Astarion thinks its the perfect time to move their relationship forward. But Tav isn't so sure, and Astarion reacts in his usual petty manner about her rejection - but is distracted when he notices something very odd about a nearby bookcase.
***
He withdrew his fangs, feeling his lips on her skin, feeling the blood flow into his mouth, feeling the surge of pleasure and power that it contained. It was like a long drawn out lovemaking session, making sure to hit just the right spots, as opposed to a quick hard fuck. Both pleasurable, but different.Astarion felt himself growing rigid within his small-clothes. He was already pressed up against her, she’d notice this time even if she hadn’t before. Just in case, he ground against her to make sure she knew, and there was a higher pitched gasp as her hands moved slightly, but stayed on the books. The blood crept out onto his tongue as he lapped at her, to heal her and clean her, before his mouth left her skin.
“Take off your pants, darling,” he whispered, unbuttoning his own.
