A modern man wakes up in a cart with his hands bound, and instantly recognises both his surroundings and the fact that, given where he's seated, he's due to embark on a wildly dangerous adventure in just a few short minutes.
Given he has even less combat knowledge than this world's average teenager probably would, this could prove hazardous to his health.
A self-insert fic in which the author overthinks magic, the Thu'um, and how best to translate a video game world into something not constrained by levels and systems. Canon compliance will be attempted, but only to the extent that the author actually knows it (which is not much).

Finch is Skyrim on VR with a mod that places him as an observer in Helgen when he discovers that: 1. The Dragonborn can see and hear him; 2. He has full collision with the game, and can’t find his house walls; and 3. The VR headset won’t come off. As time goes on, more and more videogame menu options are taken away from him as the world of Skyrim inexorably becomes real.
Told from the point of view of the Dragonborn, a nobody from Cyrodiil whose destiny seems to be tied up with this madman from Helgen.

i think i understood, viscerally, the barrel-eyed, slightly wondrous, terror and confusion of whatever deep-sea fishes feel when theyre suddenly reeled up out of the darkness to be met with something they neither expected nor even knew to expect when they woke up this morning. can you tell how boggled i am by how (beating you over the head) with the metaphor this metaphor is? i am more sleep deprived than i think ive ever been but you know what, i think i will manifest this for my 30's
