    Summary

At first, he thought it was driftwood, maybe an old sail. But the shape was too upright. Still, too still. Something slumped on the jagged edge of a boulder outcropping a few dozen meters ahead. He squinted and leaned forward, eyes narrowing as he assessed whatever he was seeing right now through the darkness. It wasn't driftwood, it was... a woman.

His chest tightened. He blinked once, twice, but she remained curled, unmoving, like she'd been placed there by the sea itself. Pale limbs. Long hair was soaked, dark and heavy. A shimmer along her skin that the moon barely caught. Ropes, thick and coarse, wrapped her arms and torso, pinned her as if the ocean forgot to swallow her back up. Why was there a woman out at this hour? This wasn't exactly the safest area to be wandering. And most importantly, why the hell was she tied up that tight?  His fingers gripped the tiller before he could think.

    Summary

The god hummed, and then a blade, sharp as sunrays, traced up the bridge of your nose, slicing away the linen covering your eyes without so much as nicking your skin. You blinked, your vision adjusting to the blinding light filling the temple, and when you realized who you stood before, you immediately fell to your knees and pressed your forehead to the floor.

“Do you recognize me?” he said.

“Phainon,” you said, your heart pounding when he did not correct you.

“Yes,” he said. “Then, knowing this, will you ask for my blessing?”

You are meant to be a sacrifice to Nikador, but when you gain the attention of the wrong god, you learn firsthand why mortals are not meant to trifle in the affairs of the divine.

    Summary

Phainon fell into step behind him, voice lowering, softer now, more serious. “I know what he did, you know. My ancestor. The whole hunter-vampire thing. They teach it like some grand, noble story, but…” He rubbed the back of his neck, a faint tension in his jaw. “I don’t buy most of it. From what I’ve read, he didn’t seem like a hero at all.”
Anaxa stopped at the mouth of the alley, but still didn’t turn around. His silhouette was a stark slash against the pale streetlight—spine straight, shoulders squared, the faintest chill in the air around him.
“He wasn’t,” Anaxa said finally, voice low and steady, carrying the weight of long-buried memories. “He was young. Angry. And stupid enough to believe he could win.”

AKA - Anaxa is a vampire who’s been around since ancient Greece and has more or less adjusted to modern life—aside from still speaking like he’s in a philosophy debate. He’s surprised when he runs into Phainon, a tall, casually dressed immortal who turns out to be descended from the hunter who once tried to kill him.
Phainon doesn’t share his ancestor’s grudge, but his presence brings back memories Anaxa would rather avoid.

    Summary

“Take a break”, Anaxagoras leaned back on his painting stool breaking his eye contact from the bright blue eyes and looked up to the blinding white ceiling which somehow still dimmed in comparison.

“Did I.. do something wrong?", a voice so meek sounded from across the room.

The young man with a tuft of white hair soaked wet and the tip of his nose tinged red stood up from where he was sitting — moreso posing.

    And Anaxagoras saw.
