Robert’s mouth goes dry. “He’s being released.”
Aaron nods slowly. “Right.”
Wrong.
Robert has to think about the ramifications, even if he can only predict a fraction of it all.
He’s done trying to scheme his way out of things beforehand.
Aaron doesn’t ask anything else.
Not today.
Today, hugs take over questions.
Aaron’s chin hooks over his shoulder as if it never stopped doing that. “Thanks for doing this,” he says hoarsely.
Robert breathes in because he can. “Thanks for wanting me here.”
Aaron and Robert spend the anniversary of Liv's passing together.

"You don't have to stay the night, you know," he suggests awkwardly. His offer is genuine; if Robert feels uncomfortable, Aaron would never expect him to stay.
The reaction on Robert's face is immediate. His features soften as his green eyes settle back on Aaron. "Don't be daft. I said I'd stay. Of course, I'm staying." He pulls his feet off the table and leans forward. "Besides, you made me popcorn," he says with a grin, eagerly reaching for the munchies.———

Summary
Robert twitches- legs kicking beneath the blanket like he’s trying to outrun something. His breathing stutters. A sharp sound escapes him, half-swallowed, like he doesn’t know whether he’s allowed to make noise even here.
Aaron just wants to take all the sharp edges and smooth them out, build a world where Robert doesn’t have to fight to get a good night sleep.
