    Summary

Vessel has spent his entire life in the suffocating grip of the Church of Final Baptism, moulded from birth into a sacred vessel for the words and will of Father Phorcys. Trapped in layers of spiritual manipulation and quiet despair, Vessel submits to a marriage he never wanted, believing numb obedience is his only escape.

But submission is laced with cruel words and hidden torment, and his marriage is little more than a cage. One night, when Phorcys declares them both unworthy and drives them off a cliff into the ocean, Vessel assumes his final breath will be one of cold terror.

Instead, he wakes, barely alive and still beneath the surface, in a glowing cave tended to by creatures of myth. A pod of mermen: II, III, and IV. Each one stranger than the last, inexplicably kind, and devoted to helping this strange land-creature survive.

    OR
A take on the lyrics of Infinite Baths, with lots of angst, fluff, and mermen.

He stared up at Megatron, that wicked, sharp toothed grin as coy as ever. “My most loyal and competent soldier,” he purred, low and seductive and Soundwave had to repress a shiver. “Won’t you grace me with your presence? After all, I think I owe you at least a drink for your years of dedicated service.”

“It doesn’t really snow much here, though,” Raf said, and he sounded wistful. “We’re lucky if we get more than an inch or so.”

"Lucky?" Ratchet asked incredulously. “You want snow?”

“Well, yeah!” Raf rocked back onto his hands, crossing his legs in front of him. “It’s really fun to play in the snow. You can make snowmen, have snowball fights, and, uh...” He trailed off. “Uh, well, those are kind of the two main things. But we don’t get enough here to really do anything. Usually it all melts really quickly, and then it’s just gross and muddy.”

“I thought you said snow was dangerous to humans.”

“It can be, if you’re not wearing warm clothing. But we just put on coats and gloves and stuff, and we’re fine.” Raf sighed, tilting his head in thought. “It's supposed to be colder this winter, though. Maybe we’ll get lucky.”

Ratchet had hoped to Primus they wouldn’t be, but there was a reason he’d never been Primus’ biggest fan.

    Summary

It was still dark in his hab when Cosmos fell out of recharge. For a disoriented moment, he wasn’t sure why he’d woken up; it was late into the Sanctuary’s night cycle, and his alarm shouldn’t have gone off for hours yet. He glared at the wall across from him, processor slogging through post-recharge grogginess.

A hand rested gentle against his chest, and a familiar field brushed up against his own. Cosmos rolled onto his back, visor curling into a smile as he turned to look up at Soundwave.

“I’m sorry,” Soundwave murmured. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”

Cosmos shook his head, reaching out to grab their hand in his own. “Don’t worry about it,” he whispered. “How’s it going out there? Everyone still alive?”

    --

Soundwave returns from a long day at work; Cosmos welcomes him home.
