Summary
The Baby coos in his arms, and for the first time in a long time, Ponyboy bursts into tears. Tears not born of pain, of being recreated to be poked and prodded, of being used over and over again in ways he doesn't always understand. Tears out of happiness, tears he's cried before because of a sunset, because of a family he doesn't remember.
Ponyboy has lived a lot of lives. Too many lives, for the good of mankind. But what about himself? When can he control his own life?

"Do you just come up with all this shit on the fly?" Dallas looks at the rows before him, unsure of how he feels about it all. It wasn't every day that you got to see the inside of the Valance Corporation's Doll Studios.
"No. I turned to the past," the words are almost excitedly said, Cherry motioning them to follow her through the rest of the room to the other door. It's a fucking relief to get away from the Head Room, as Dallas calls it. The hallway here is cool, Cherry taking them down the hallway at a quick pace. "It's rare for us to show you this, but since you'll be helping me work on the next generation, it's very important that you know more."
Creation is a very complicated thing, from conception, to birth, to death.

Summary
After the secret breaks out over them, everything changes, and yet nothing changes at all.
Johnny still wakes up, gets breakfast, goes to his job, comes home. He still reads books about convicts, about space loneliness, about what to do. He also starts to drink beers that have long sat dormant in his icebox, he starts to think about all the years that Dallas had been gone, he starts to consider that maybe he's lost the man he's loved since he was ten years old to something inanimate, something that could never think, something that could never really replace human life, yet inexplicably had.
The cat's out of the bag. Dallas and Johnny can't cope.

"What's," Dallas waves to the tree, "this?"
"A Christmas tree, and Jack Frost, from 1978," Ponyboy chirps in response, finally scooting off the table where he's set up the tree. The holovid pauses, Ponyboy walking up to Dallas in that way he knows is determined to have a nice time no matter what Dallas says. "It's December on Earth today and I thought we could celebrate Christmas since it's my first year."
Dallas has Christmas on an asteroid with an android he loves. It's that simple.

Summary
There's a fascination to Ponyboy's gaze whenever Dallas does something that he deems very human, whether it be the small signals of Dallas' oncoming ruts or cutting his fingernails or recently, shaving his facial hair until it's more manageable if not gone; those things seem to fascinate him endlessly, tracking whenever they happen with surprise and interest that is more than odd for Dallas.
Fifty moments, before, during, and after Dallas' wrongful imprisonment on the wettest, loneliest asteroid out there.

Summary
The point was that on SEH-1965, rain was always happening, always just around the corner. The periods where no rain occurred were sparse, almost entirely gone within a blink of an eye and in the middle of it, Dallas had been put there to serve out his sentence of fifty years entirely alone.
Dallas Winston thinks about his time on the asteroid and his time off — and the person he misses most. Which isn't, in this case, Johnny Cade.

It's not until Dallas freezes in the shop center that Johnny becomes worried for what happened on the asteroid. He's never seen Dallas freeze like this before, has never seen his eyes linger on androids before.
Johnny Cade wonders what happened to his partner, Dallas Winston, during his jail sentence on a lonely asteroid. He's not quite prepared for the breakdown that follows or that just maybe, Dallas' heart remains on that lonely rock in space.
