When the first invitation came in the mail, everyone was on edge.
Jean instantly recognized Emma’s scrawl, as if the Hellfire Club insignia wasn’t already indicative of the sender. It was addressed to Scott, asking him to join them in their umpteenth Gala. Everyone was suspicious, but Jean especially. Remy couldn’t tell if she was worried about the possibility of losing Scott (again), or if her previous encounters with Emma Frost had made her incredibly wary. And Remy wasn’t on the team when the X-Men first crossed paths with her, so he didn’t know the ins and outs of that convolution.

A few months later, While the X-Men raid an underground mutant ring run by The Friends of Humanity, Jean is suddenly struck by a vision of a secret, trapped mutant, nicknamed the "White Devil" by the FOH. To say the least, Logan wasn't happy when Chuck offered Gambit a place on the team. After bringing Rogue and Gambit home, Logan had been more than ready to drop the sneaky Cajun outside the gates at Xavier's and call it a day. The last thing he expected was for Rogue to actually like the Cajun.
Actually, scratch that. The last thing Logan expected was to find an engagement announcement for one Robert Lord to one Anna-Marie, who is absolutely not Logan's pseudo-daughter in any way, stuffed inside the backpack Rogue had been wearing when they recused her.
Or, in which Logan finds the engagement announcement and decides a little revenge is in order.
