Summary
When a reclusive witch living in a muggle town notices a sickly, gaunt child digging through her trashcan she is alarmed. When she sees a lightning bolt scar on his forehead she is at the Ministry’s door faster than she thought was possible. When a malnourished, horrified, seven-year-old Harry Potter is brought to the Minister’s office, he is put into the care of Albus Dumbledore. With no time to care for the boy himself, Dumbledore entrusts Harry to the one man he believes will protect him at all costs: Severus Snape. Because no matter how bitter or guarded he was, Snape would never turn away the child who carries her eyes.

Summary
This story started as a series of drabbles, ficlets, and could-have-been-canon scenes beginning in June of 1995 wherein Fred and Hermione slowly become more than friendly acquaintances. Similarly, this fic itself has gradually morphed into much more than that, and certainly more than I had ever intended it to be.
It’s now 250k+ words of my explaining by example all of the ways that these two could - SHOULD - have been canon, and what that might have looked like if it ran alongside the events of the original books (or most of them, anyway).
That said, these are significantly darker than canon, and they touch on some of the trauma that was previously brushed over, as well as injecting some where it makes sense to have occurred. There’s plenty of humor and joy, but there’s also a lot of pain that, within the context of the story, has good reason to be felt.
Regarding the Underage tag, the characters are ages sixteen and eighteen at the first occurrence. If this upsets your sensibilities, this is not the story for you. Especially triggering content will be called out in chapter notes.

Summary
In the summer before his fifth year at Hogwarts, Harry is drawn to a room in Grimmauld Place. Like the Gryffindor he is, he enters the room without fear. The room is a library, and Harry is surprised to find that he’s eager to learn.
Then he gets the bad news: he’s been accidentally expelled from Hogwarts, and he needs to be sorted again. Everyone is confident that he’ll go straight back to Gryffindor, but with what he's been learning, Harry’s not so sure.

Summary

There's a whole world of lore and politics and history to catch up on, and the more he learns, the more Harry realises his true place in the world, and how much is being kept hidden from him. All the while, Dumbledore's twinkling eyes are constantly watching, and Harry can't let on how much he knows.
With help from unexpected places, Harry starts on a journey to end the war, and reshape the wizarding world. With how much he looks like James Potter, people have forgotten one important thing about him - he is Lily Evans' son, and she was one hell of a witch.
