Summary
“I...” Alhaitham's not sure where to start, really. So he lays it out, plain and true: “I hurt people today. I think I killed someone, Kaveh.”
That gets Kaveh's eyes to widen, large and glassy like a deer. Alhaitham wonders, was he about to cry earlier? “You... okay. What happened?”
There's no judgment. No anger. No hate in those round red eyes, that usually go narrow and sharp like the edge of broken glass when Kaveh hears someone's been killed. Is it because it's Alhaitham, or because he made a promise? Is he planning on how to start packing efficiently and go tell a matra tonight, Alhaitham wonders?
Kaveh's hand squeezes Alhaitham's knee. He hasn't moved it.
“I... I don't know. I just– I've been sick, and I left early, and I–” Alhaitham's throat closes up. It hurts to talk, and he swallows around the knot in his throat. Kaveh just nods, letting him find his voice. “...I attacked someone. Two people.”
“I didn't think vampires were real,” Kaveh says, breathlessly.

Summary
“Ha, ha.” Suguru rolls his eyes and scoffs amusedly. Being Satoru, he's rarely experienced even a papercut, so of course he thinks it'd be cool to be nearly eviscerated. “Very funny, Satoru– ah,”
Something warm and metallic trickles into Suguru's mouth, and a wave of nausea slams into him from the front, rendering him hot all over. Hand over his mouth and nose, suddenly he's sweating puddles under his uniform.
There's an overwhelming presence that almost brings him to his knees – it is evil, and it's right behind him, overwhelming in the exact way that a special grade curse is. What the hell is this? He blinks, hot and feeling dehydrated and sick, and he just wants Satoru. He opens his mouth to ask what happened, where are we, can we go home, but Satoru looks so much older now and there's so much raw, unbridled power and an enraged smugness rolling off of him in waves, that Suguru isn't even sure this is Satoru.
I want to go home.
suguru sees something strange when satoru cracks a joke.

Summary
It's exactly two weeks after they've returned home when Kaveh notices it – the oddness of the house.
It starts with the fish statuette. That dumb, dead-eyed fish figure that Alhaitham got from Tighnari and Kaveh's always hated it. It sits on the bookshelf and stares at him as he flits across the house, cleaning, drawing, no matter what he's doing, it just stares.
He starts having weird dreams, too. Dreams, until the recent abolishment of the Akasha, only came to the children of Sumeru and even then, Kaveh was never an avid dreamer; and he still isn't. Most mornings he woke up unable to remember even a sliver of his dreams, and it still rings true after the Akasha’s abolishment.
It did, anyway, until his father started showing up.
things around the house start moving and kaveh's having odd dreams after a trip to the desert.

Summary
Kaveh turns to fully face Alhaitham, reaching up to place both hands on his jaw. He asks in a whisper, "did you miss me?" as he runs his thumbs under those two-tone eyes he'll always love, over the curve of his cheek he knows better than his own. Alhaitham nods under his touch, hands locked around Kaveh's own thin wrists to keep him there.
"Always.”
And Kaveh smiles and laughs, like he always will when Alhaitham, the Akademiya's grand Scribe, his cold faced roommate, his best friend, says something so terribly sappy and lovely and endearing Kaveh will think he's been replaced.
kaveh returns home to a very touchy alhaitham.

Summary
Kaveh has never, not once, had a stable connection in his life. Without fail, like some divine mockery, the playing field shifts and he loses anyone he holds dear. One would think someone with a mean streak of tragedy like his would step out of the sun after being burned for the nth time, but alas, Kaveh is a fool.
So says lovingly the tender elders on Treasures Street as he details the weekly blunder. So says another indignant client, fed up with revisions. So says Alhaitham.
Kaveh would be a fool twice over if he disagreed, this he knows.
or, author knows kaveh would have incredible abandonment issues.

“Do you want to go?”
Haibara blinked at him. “Right now?”
“Why not? The best view of Tokyo is at night. Let me show you.”
It was well past sunset in the summertime. The tower would undoubtedly be closed by the time they arrived if it wasn’t already. They both knew that. Geto wanted to see what Haibara would say. Would he trust his senpai? Would he accept Geto on the spot?
