    Summary

Jaskier was part fae. A quarter to be precise.

There was an old superstition among humans that names held power, but for fae it was so much more than that. Names meant control. If you knew a fae’s name, their true name, they would be completely at your will. If someone knew your true name you were nothing more than their servant. A slave. All it took was a single command.

When war breaks out between neighboring kingdoms, Jaskier's father uses his true name and commands him to marry a witcher as part of a peace treaty. Neither Jaskier or Geralt are particularly happy with the arrangement. But as Jaskier gets to know him better he realizes that the witcher might just be able to give him the thing he's always craved. Freedom.

    Summary

Geralt and Ciri are on the run from Nilfgaard. After a narrow escape from certain death, they seek refuge in a Lettenhove court. Geralt is shocked to find that the viscount, (and secret leader in the resistance) is none other than the man he scorned on the mountain. But Jaskier is acting as though he’s never met him before in his life.

Is this is the chance Geralt needs to set things right?

    -----

He took Jaskier’s hand. There were still small lute calluses on the tips of his fingers. He clung to that. No matter what anyone said, his bard’s fingers were in his hand after all this time. It made him want to sob. To lay his head on Jaskier’s lap. To tell him he was finally ready to be honest.

But this was not a man ready to receive his feelings or comfort him.

There was nothing soft about Jaskier now.

His eyes now looked like gates snapped shut. He waited for Geralt in brittle silence. The two mages held their breath. Ciri fidgeted with her dirty trousers.

“Geralt." Ciri took his arm and squeezed it. “Geralt are you sure? We can leave. We don’t have to do this.”

    Geralt locked eyes with Jaskier.

“No Ciri. I trust his lordship with my life and yours.”

    Summary

Ciri leaves Kaer Morhen. She doesn't understand why Geralt is bringing a bard with them. She doesn't want Geralt to bring a bard with them.

“You’ll spoil her,” Yennefer said. It was the first thing she had said all morning.

Jaskier shrugged and petted the horse’s muzzle. “Him? It’s a gelding, so maybe not a him. Hm, in people having your balls cut off doesn’t make you not a man unless you want it to but you can’t ask a horse. Anyway, not a her. And better spoiled than mad at me.”

“You’ll have both spoiled and mad at you when you run out of treats,” Ciri said, mostly to see what Jaskier would do.

He smiled blithely at her. “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. No reason not to enjoy the apples while we have them, isn’t that right, Fredrick?”

“That’s not…” Ciri trailed off and Jaskier looked at her quizzically. None of the Witchers would name their horse Fredrick, but Ciri didn’t know the gelding’s proper name, wasn’t even sure which of the now dead Witchers it had belonged to. She hadn’t spent enough time in the stables to learn these things but it still felt like a failure not to know.

    Summary

"He has words to say, frustration burning away the exhaustion that weighs at his bones. He would do this in the morning, were he not certain he would be noticed, which would lead to questions, and the last thing he wants to do is explain the bullshittery of his existence to a man whom vehemently hates Destiny and only recently decided that he didn’t despise Jaskier’s being. And as he said before, he would rather not try sliding down these mountains, thank you very much.

Of course, all of that leads him to this moment, Jaskier shivering in the dead of night, a coat and boots that frankly do piss all for the mountain chill, with a half broken lantern lighting the way so that he doesn’t fall and snap his neck."

Or; Sometimes Destiny pushes to far. Jaskier does something about it.

    Summary

Fringilla decides the best way to make a tortured Bard spill where Geralt of Rivia would take his Child of Surprise is to dive into his head and create illusions. When two bastards stumble into his cell and break him out he understandably believes that they are a figment of his imagination. He keeps his cards as close to his chest as a talkative Bard possibly could as they drag him to what they assure him is a safe place. After all, why would Julian know all that Jaskier does about Kaer Morhan?

Meeting Lambert at Rosie's Tavern at the base of the Blue Mountains he lets half of the cards tumble in the presence of the Wolf Witcher. They grow closer as the four of them trudge up the mountain and meet with the other Wolves in the keep, where he is a trusted member until three weary travelers arrive one morning and cause his cards to go flying.
