"Is that so?" Elizabeth laughed, enjoying the soft dimples that lit her husband's cheeks. If he truly wanted entertainment, she was more than happy to provide it. "But what will my parents think when they discover my unchaperoned walk with a long-standing bachelor!"
His eyebrows rose as he considered the new game she was proposing.
"I am sure they will believe me to behave as a gentleman should in my position," he said, yet the suave undertones to his statement let Elizabeth know exactly where this was heading.
"It is indeed a wonderful thing that you hold your propriety so high," she murmured, beginning to pull him lightly away from the trail where even the infrequent visitors would not discover them. "However can I thank you for valuing my virtue?"
