...the playoff race can't be any tighter with 5 to play. Falcons are the only ones that can clinch today. They just need to beat the Saints today and they will have the NFC South as we welcome you to Soldier Field - Chris Myers alongside Greg Jennings. Greg, the Lions come into this just a game back of the Bears for the NFC North lead. What do the Lions need to do to get the better of the Bears and take 1st place in the division here?
Greg Jennings: They'll need a fantastic performance from their young QB Ezra Bridger. He's starting to come into his own after taking over for Rex Salazar early last year. Results haven't been there yet, but give him another year and the Lions will be giving the Bears a run for their money in the North.
Chris Myers: Bears won the toss, they will defer and we are underway in Chicago! Kanan Jarrus back to return and this one will go over his head, so the Lions will start from their own 20 as we take a look at the 2nd year QB from Stanford, Ezra Bridger. 4 touchdowns on Thanksgiving Day against the Texans on 288 yards, no picks, 33/46 passing. On 1st and 10, Bridger with time, looking for the deep ball...AND HE'S IMMEDIATELY INTERCEPTED! TANG TAKES IT AT MIDFIELD AND TRIXIE TANG IS GONNA GET BY EVERYONE AND TAKE IT ALL THE WAY...
...FOR A BEARS TOUCHDOWN!
Greg Jennings: Defense already coming in full force here as Ezra Bridger looking to go to his #1 target Lando Kalrissian right out of the gate, but Trixie Tang, the safety with magnets for hands, anticipates this. She gets the jump, uses her height advantage and leaps over the head of Kalrissian for the pick, then gets great blocking, just no chance for Bridger and the Lions there and the Bears strike first.
Chris Myers: Bucky's kick is through - 7-0 Bears.
On the next Lions drive, Bridger would lead his squad 76 yards on 10 plays in just over 6 minutes, but would only come up with 3 points following a defensive stand by the Bears. After an exchange of stalled drives, the Bears would strike again in the 2nd quarter.
Chris Myers: On 2nd and 4 from the 38, it's Turner dropping back...looking Skylark's way...AND NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!
(Chicago Bears touchdown horn)
TOUCHDOWN BEARS!
That made it a 14-3 Bears lead. Bears would extend later in the quarter...
Chris Myers: 1st and 10 from midfield, pocket collapses, but Turner has wheels. Looks far sideline for McBadbat...Chester has it and he's long gone! 68 YARDS FOR CHESTER MCBADBAT!
(Chicago Bears touchdown horn)
BEARS STRIKE AGAIN!
That made it 21-3, but Ezra would launch this strike just before the half.
Chris Myers: Lions in the Red Zone on 1st and 10 from the Chicago 16 yard line. From the right hash under center is Bridger...he's gonna find Kalrissian....FOR A TOUCHDOWN!
That made the score 21-10 at the half. But from there...it was all Bears.
Chicago Bears - 21
Detroit Lions - 10
Start of 3rd Quarter
Chris Myers: Back at Soldier Field, about to start the 3rd quarter, Bears will receive the 2nd half kickoff and we are underway! Jazz Fenton will take it in her own end zone. To the 20, has blocking ahead...gets to midfield, still has blocking! Gets around Organa! And Jazz Fenton will take this 104 yards....
(Chicago Bears touchdown horn)
...FOR A BEARS TOUCHDOWN!
That kickoff return would make it a 28-10 Bears advantage before either team could even get any rushing yards in. After a 3 and out by the Lions, Timmy Turner would lead the Bears on a 9 play, 80 yard, 6 and a half minute drive ending with this...
Chris Myers: On 1st and 10 from the 14, it's Turner...looks for Skylark...AND THE ONE-HANDED GRAB!
(Chicago Bears touchdown horn)
2ND TOUCHDOWN OF THE DAY FOR CHIP SKYLARK! 4TH FOR TIMMY TURNER! 34-10 BEARS!
It would be 35-10 after the PAT. But Ezra Bridger would fire back to back touchdown passes to Hera Syndulla to make it 35-24 after 3. Midway through the 4th, he'd do it again to Lando Kalrissian to get the Lions back to within 4. However, on the Lions' next drive...
Chris Myers: Lions at midfield looking to tie this game up late in regulation. On 2nd and 10, Bridger looking for Kalrissian...AND HE'S INTERCEPTED! TANG DOES IT AGAIN! SHE'S MAKING EVERYONE MISS! NO ONE NEAR HER NOW AND SHE'S IN!
(Chicago Bears touchdown horn)
2ND PICK SIX OF THE DAY FOR TRIXIE TANG! KALRISSIAN LOOKING FOR A FLAG FOR INTERFERENCE, WON'T GET IT! AND THE BEARS ARE GONNA WIN THIS GAME!
That would seal it as it would be 42-31 after the extra point...
Greg Jennings: They just gotta fall on it now, Chris. There it is...
Chris Myers: Bears are gonna take this game 42-31 and with it will come a 2 game lead in the NFC North with 4 to play!
That'll do it from Chicago!
