Chapter Text

Celeste and Mina ended up trailing after the two in their search for the orphan. Mina sighed. She knew her sister was gonna go batty if Bruno and Karma asked too much, it had been very apparent on the phone that she wasn’t in the best mood.

“ ‘Kids running away left and right, what a reputation this gives me!” She’d yelled at Mina over the phone. Mina sighed.

“ Cass, you know I can help you if reputation is the problem.” Mina had said. She was a mafioso, part of Passione, even if she was just lowerrank, she had the ability to help her sister in this field. Cass groaned.

“ You should have become a nun, sis.” She growled. “ Why did you go towards the mafia! You’ll go straight to hell at this rate! I wanted to be in heaven together with mum and dad!” She sounded quite desperate.

“ Someone had to pay the bills after dad died. You don’t want to lose the family house do you?” Mina growled.

“ No, I suppose not.” Cass sounded slightly sad. “ I have to go now. The cops are here.” Mina hummed.

“ Talk later, sis.” Mina said, hanging up.

Now, Mina was running after two 18 year old gremlins who had no clue what they were getting into. They wanted to find someone they’d saved, which Mina supposed was just in their curiosity and their want to know if the person was okay, but they really were clueless.

“ Do they even know anything about this person?” Celeste asked, trying to keep a steady pace with her crutches. She wobbled a little, Mina pulling out Housewifes Radio to stabilize her a bit. “ Thanks.”

“ To answer your question no they do not, but neither do we.” Mina said sharply, losing her goody two shoes motherly act. Celeste flinched as Mina tried to regain her composure. “ I mean, I bet their intentions are good. It’s so nice to see young people caring about the community especially in our community and more so our line of work.”

“ Uh huh.” Celeste said, averting her gaze down to her crutches. “ I wonder what this mystery person is like.”

“ From what Cassandra told me-”

“ Hol’ up!” Celeste said, shocked. “ Your sister is sister Cassandra?!”

“ Teehee~ Why yes!” God this act was nauseating. “ My sister’s a nun. She runs an orphanage as well.” Celeste looked kinda scared and Mina felt dead inside. Yet again, she always did. Maybe that was one of the side effects of being completely and utterly alone at the age of 7, having to raise two kids and eventually having to let them go just so they could both become nuns. Thinking about it, she needed help. Help she wasn’t going to get.

“ Hey! Someone stop that kid!” Over my dead body.

“ What the hell?! They’re so fast!” Hell yeah I am. I’ve had years of practice!

“ Someone should teach that girl some manners.” Not a girl and I have manners. Learn yours first, lady.

Fugo ducked away from the streets, deciding to hide in an alley. Navigating through the shifty and awful smelling corarders of brick and stone that caged them in on either side. If they looked back, they could imagine walking by alleyways just like this one and scoffing, telling their sibling how they’d never be caught dead in an alleyway and all 3 of them laughing. Look at where they were now, hiding from the cops with their stolen wallets.

They knew Sister Cassandra would have their head when they were found, which, to be honest, might possibly be never with what Fugo had in mind. They would chuck all identification of the people who’s wallets they’d stolen-credit cards included-into the gutter and use the physical cash to get a train ticket and head up somewhere where no one had ever heard of the Fugo or a Pannacotta either.

Making their way to an empty corner, they took three wallets from their skirt waistband. Maybe skirts could be useful for other things besides starting bonfires. Setting the wallets out in front of them, they checked to see if anyone was watching. They’d always been self conscious about it, but they were also sorta committing a crime.

After they’d finished with it all, they placed the currency into one wallet and threw the other two in the gutter with the peoples identification and credit cards. Now all I have to do is hop on a train and leave everything here behind.

Of course, as luck would have it, that was not going to happen. They were about to head out when someone from behind them scoffed. This was going to turn fucking cliche, wasn’t it? They turned around to see who it was and found it was a girl a few years older than themself with brown hair and greyish blue eyes, hearts drawn onto her tan skin with marker.

“ Well, look at this.” The girl smiled deviously. “ It seems we have a rat here.” Fugo scrunched up their nose, their eyes twitching slightly. Another girl from behind her peaked her head out, looking the same as the girl who’d scoffed only younger and with spades drawn on hers. Fugo was starting to realize what this girls deal was.

“ You look like a pale gremlin.” Spades cackled. Fugo self consciously put a hand to their white curls. “ Are you albino?” Fugo nodded, looking away. They knew escape wouldn’t be so easy.

“ So, what are you doing, pick pocketing and such. Judging by your outfit, you’re from sister Cassandra’s orphanage.” She was observant, Fugo had to give her credit for that. The beige sweater and navy blue skirt matched with tights must really give it away.

“ Yeah, no one escapes her!” Spades chimed in again. Hearts hummed in agreement with the younger, patting her on the head.

“ Or us.” Hearts laughed before deadpanning. “ Now listen here, rat, I’m the Queen of Hearts.” Fugo gulped. The who?! “ Basically, if you steal somethin’ and I don’t know about it, you’re toast.”

“ Yeah!” Spades said. This time, the Queen of Hearts glared at her and Spades backed down.

“ Now, tell me your name and give me all you have stashed in that wallet of whoevers-” The Queen proceeded to pull out a baseball bat and Spades a knife. “ Or we’re gonna make you pay in guts!” Now Fugo was scared, but not scared enough to hand over the money.

“ No.” They said instead. The Queen narrowed her eyes. “ You have a death wish?” She asked. Fugo took a step back only to find the wall. Shit. They’d cornered themselves.

“ Look, I can see you're a very priositized person, but I kinda need this.” Fugo said. “ So fuck off.” They covered their mouth, but it was too late. The Queen screamed and swung her baseball bat at Fugo, hitting them in the stomach. They doubled over, clutching their midsection in pain. That’s gonna leave a bruise.

“ Grrr-You think you’re better than us, stronzo?!” The Queen grabbed Fugo by their hair and slammed their face into the wall, blood gushing from their nose and dripping into their mouth. The Queen let them go, Fugo dropping to the ground and staying there.

The Queen laughed mockingly, giving Fugo a look that could only be interpreted as “ You made a mistake and you paid”. Walking away from them, the Queen picked up the wallet, which Fugo had dropped, and stashed it in her own pockets.

“ Foolish.” She spat at Fugo, leaving. All at once, Fugo realized she'd just ruined everything. What were the chances they'd get away with what they did again. They'd be arrested before they could even try. And they really didn't want to go back to the orphanage. Sister Cassandra didn't really care, all she worried about was her reputation. She would never admit to being a sinner even if she was.

Plus Fugo was an atheist.

Getting up shakily, Fugo knew that something bad was about to happen, worse than getting hit in the stomach with metal and face slammed into the brick. “ Y-you think you're a queen, huh?” Fugo said, every piece of sarcasm intended. Hearts turned around.

“ Well, well, it seems our rat has decided to squeak at us again.” She smiled amused. Spades giggled. “ And I'm the queen because no one has ever challenged me.”

“ Wanna bet?” Fugo laughed, rage growing inside them. This might be the one time they didn't care what happened when they went off. This girl stole their already stolen cash! Hearts had no time to react before Fugo lunged themselves at her, punching her in the mouth. A few teeth fell out and she screamed in agony and rage.

“ You BITCH!” She screamed, only it sounded different with her missing teeth. “ I’m gonna tear you apart!”

“ Like to see you try, Bastardo!” Fugo screamed as The Queen punched back. Both of them were bloodied now and one might say they were even, but the Queen didn’t look like she wanted to back down and neither did Fugo.
